Copyright and takedown
Version 2026-10-12 · Last updated 12 October 2026
If something on Mahaul is yours, shows you, or breaks the law, this is how to tell us.
This is written for the app as it's built today. A lawyer hasn't reviewed it yet, so it isn't final and it will change before Mahaul launches.
Someone's using my photo, poster or work
Event posters and venue photos on Mahaul come from organizers and public sources. If you own a photo, poster or other work shown on Mahaul and haven't allowed it, email legal@apnamahaul.com with:
- the link, or a screenshot, of where it appears on Mahaul;
- a link to the original;
- your name and how we can reach you; and
- the line “I own this work or am authorised to act for the owner.”
That mailbox is being set up. Until it is live, send the same notice to hello@apnamahaul.com with “Takedown notice” in the subject.
We take the content down within 48 hours of a complete notice and tell the person who posted it, who may reply. If they show they have the rights, we'll tell you and may restore it unless you obtain a court order within 21 days. Repeat infringers are banned.
I'm in a photo and don't want to be
Report the photo from its menu in the app, or email legal@apnamahaul.com (being set up; until it is live, use hello@apnamahaul.com). We remove it.
Impersonation, or an intimate image shared without consent
Report it in the app, or email grievance@apnamahaul.com with “urgent” in the subject. We act within 2 hours. If you are in danger, call 112.
Courts, police and government agencies
Orders and requests go to legal@apnamahaul.com (being set up; until it is live, write to hello@apnamahaul.com with “Legal order” in the subject) or to our registered office once it is published. A request that arrives anywhere else is forwarded there and the sender told.
We check that an order is genuine before we act. A government takedown notice should name the law, the act and the exact URL, and come from an officer of the required seniority; if it doesn't, we'll ask for a compliant notice. We act on valid orders within the time the IT Rules set, disclose only what the order names, and tell the person affected unless the order forbids it or it would put someone in danger.
